UNSOLICITED ADVERTISEMENT (SPAM) POLICY

GET OUTDOORS NEW ENGLAND RELATED E-MAIL LISTS AND OTHER E-MAIL ADDRESSES ARE NOT FOR SALE OR RENT.

GET OUTDOORS NEW ENGLAND PROHIBITS UNSOLICITED ADVERTISEMENTS (SPAM) TO E-MAIL ADDRESSES LISTED ON ITS WEB SITE.

ANY UNSOLICITED ADVERTISEMENT WILL RESULT IN THE IMMEDIATE INVOICING OF THE OFFENDING BUSINESS PER THE RATES BELOW AS WELL AS THE NOTIFICATION OF THE OFFENDER'S ISP.

THIS POLICY APPLIES TO THE GONEWENGLAND-RELATED E-MAIL LISTS AS WELL AS TO INDIVIDUALS WHO POST ACTIVITIES AND ALLOW THEIR E-MAIL ADDRESSES TO BE USED ON THE GONEWENGLAND WEB SITE.

• There will be no unsolicited commercial advertising or endorsements in the GONewEngland e-mail chat/discussion group or the E-mail newsletter.   (Exception:  The ads that YahooGroups adds to the the e-mail messages, over which GONewEngland has no control.)  It is not acceptable for a business concern to sign up onto the chat group for the sole purpose of sending out ads, for example.  That is SPAM, and it is subject to the rates below.

• Businesses or individuals who attempt to SPAM any GONewEngland e-mail list will be notified of our advertising policy, and their attempt to gain access to the list will be rejected with a fee assessed (see below).  Upon successfully SPAMming any GONewEngland e-mail group, a fee will be assessed and billed for the use of our private lists (the rates are listed below).  Action will be taken to inform the originator's ISP Postmaster of the unwanted e-mail message.

• Businesses or individuals who attempt to SPAM any e-mail address on the GONewEngland web site will be notified of our advertising policy.  Upon successfully SPAMming any address on the GONewEngland web site, a fee will be assessed and billed for the use of this e-mail address (the rates are listed below).  Action will be taken to inform the originator's ISP Postmaster of the unwanted e-mail message.  This includes clicking on the name of someone who has posted an activity and sending unsolicited, non GONewEngland related e-mail.

• GONewEnglanders on the chat/discussion group are more than welcome to share their experiences with varieties of businesses, brand names of products, and so on.  Let us know of a good deal you got.  If someone asks what your favorite hiking boot is, feel free to pass it along.  This way we'll all learn and become better shoppers, getting good deals on good equipment.  These discussions should be limited to products and services of general interest to GONewEnglanders (mostly outdoors activities), a recommendation based on personal experience, and information that can help your fellow GONewEnglanders be more safe and comfortable as they experience the outdoors.

• Your Webmaster reserves the right to place any material into or withold any material from the E-mail Newsletter.  This pertains to material of public, personal, commercial, and non-commercial nature.

The current rates:

• Use of GONewEngland e-mail lists for unsolicited advertising:
  Attempted SPAM:  $100 per e-mail to pay for the administrative costs to reject the SPAM attempt and notification of the offender's ISP.
  Should a SPAMmer successfully gain use of our e-mail lists for unsolicited advertisements:  $1000 per e-mail plus $10 per e-mail address hit (as noted by looking at the YahooGroups membership count after the SPAM has been detected)

• Use of e-mail addresses listed on the GONewEngland web site for unsolicited advertising:
  Unauthorized use of e-mail addresses found on the GONewEngland web site (SPAM):  $100 per e-mail per address

The offending business will be presented with an invoice for advertising, and the offender's ISP will be notified.
