2002 saw GONewEngland reach
the 5th Anniversary mark. Jan and Randy braved the chilly
Atlantic for the wintertime Penguin Plunge, and we came across a
snowman on Mt. Monadnock--on April 27! The Boxford State
Forest got a workout, and we spent some time at the Heald Tract,
Purgatory Falls, Middlesex Fells, and on the bigger NH
mountains. Ted's Trail and the Crotched Mt.
trail system didn't fail to please, and Mt. Greylock was well
worth a camping visit in the fall. Your Webmaster's ailing feet
proved to be a bit more sound at Sandwich Mt. and Mt. Potash,
but other commitments kept him away from faves like the Cape Cod
Camping, which Dawn S. and Jan G. dutifully took over.
Shadow turned 7 (!!), and Ern G. put on some awesome camping events
and dinners (including at The Bartlett Inn in November). Get
Outdoors, Make New Friends. Yep, and we've got the pictures to
prove it! Have a look by clicking on the links to the left. |
Flags on the 48: On September 14, 2002 many GONewEnglanders helped
fly the American Flag atop all 48 4000-footers in New Hampshire as a
way to remember those who were taken from us on
September 11, 2001. Click here
for the Flags on the 48 website.
